Pigeonhole

Why it exists

Testing email and SMS normally means waiting on a real mail server, borrowing a test account, or sending things to your own inbox and hoping nobody else gets them.

What it does

Pigeonhole runs in the background while you run your app from Studio Pro. Every email, SMS, push notification or other message your app tries to send lands in a panel next to your pages and microflows. None of it leaves your machine.

• One inbox for everything. Emails and web calls (SMS, push, chat, any REST call) in one list, newest first. You get a notification when something arrives.
• Safe to read. You see the email the way your user would, but scripts are blocked and outside images only load if you ask.
• Links up front. Every link gets Copy and Open, so clicking the password reset link your app just sent takes a second.
• It spots mistakes. Placeholders nobody filled in, empty values like token=, links to the wrong local port, a missing subject, and emails with no plain-text version.
• Preview it anywhere. Phone, tablet or full width in a Studio Pro tab, or open it in your own mail app.
• Break things on purpose. One click makes the next email or web call fail, so you can see how your app copes when email or SMS goes down.

How to use it

1. Import the Pigeonhole module into your app.
2. Point your app's email account at it: host 127.0.0.1, port 2525, any login, SSL and TLS off. For SMS and other web calls, swap the start of your provider's address for http://127.0.0.1:2526.
3. Run your app from Studio Pro and open Extensions › Pigeonhole › Open inbox. It's ready within a minute.
